Social Dance Shoes

Salsa Dance Shoes maybe someone can answer with ballroom experience?
I’m taking a Latin social dance class and I need to get high heels. Can I wear regular high heels or special type that I need to buy from a dance store cause I really don’t wanna spend money. And how high are the shoes supposed to be? Or low? Thankyou!
Social salsa usually isn’t as strict about footwear as ballroom is, so you can get by in regular heels. I take salsa classes and I’m pretty much the only person there with proper latin shoes (Because I also dance ballroom & latin american), and all my friends do just fine in regular heels. The heel should be between 1-3 inches, anything taller than that is just too hard to dance in. Also, make sure the shoes have a strap that goes around your ankle so they won’t come off easily, salsa can be pretty fast so you’ll want to make sure your shoes stay on your feet.
